10th Year Anniversary Celebration for
Oklahoma Winery!

Summerside Vineyards, Winery & Meadery’s birthday party will be held September 11-12 at the winery in Vinita. Each day will have door prizes drawings, lunch in the Bistro, music, cellar tours and free wine sampling; On Saturday the festivities include a by reservation only “Catch the Crush” Harvest Party IX, fabulous buffet, tours, a Lucy look-s-like contest and grape-stomping. All eyes are on the “Big Kahuma” for the day (find the biggest bunch of grapes and the title is yours!).

The two-day celebration also includes the release of two new Made in Oklahoma wines. Skinny Red is sweetened with a zero calorie sweetener and bottled in an eco friendly plastic PET bottle, and the Strawberry Wine is the 4th fruit wine to be listed on the tasting sheet.

On Sunday, the party continues with a coffee at10am for all current, former employees and Ambassadors. Marsha Butler, owner, said “Without all the great help over the years, Summerside Winery would not have grown to what it is today. We appreciate each and every one of them and all they have done.” The public is invited to the Sunday Open House from 11-4. “Not only will there be free blackberry wine birthday cake (while it lasts) but fun for all,” said MJ Hawe, events coordinator. Following the open house a free WINE 101 class from 5-6pm is being offered to the first 10 people who sign up.

Marsha and Gary Butler founded the vineyards and winery near the “Summerside” community on Grand Lake,. and moved the winery to its present location at I-44 and Historic Route 66 (exit 289) in 2003. “Arouse Your Taste buds” and check it out by calling 918-256-3000 or visiting summersievineyards.com

“Grape Pie Fest” Highlights Local Grapes

It’s that time of year for everything that’s grape. On Saturday, Sept 4, Summerside Winery in Vinita will host its first Grape Pie Fest as a part of the annual harvest celebration. Visitors to the winery will have the opportunity to purchase slices of grape pie made from locally grown Mars grapes (a variety of Concord) and Reliance, another table grape. Both varieties are grown at Bent Wheel Vineyard, owned by Mac Hayes.. Summerside Winery also procures wine grapes from the same Mayes County Vineyard.

At Grape Pie Fest enjoy local live music, wine tasting, lunch in the Bistro and tours of the winery. Summerside welcomes all grape crafters to set up a free table on the patio to show and sell their wares. Sign up in the tasting room as a friend of the winery and your name will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card. Orders for table grapes will be taken for those who want to bake their own grape pies or make grape jelly and jam.

The winery is open daily and is located on Historic Route 66 and I-44 (exit 289) in Vinita. Contact the winery at 918-706-3606 or visit summersidevineyards.com
